What is Glabridin?
Glabridin is a chemical compound that is found in the root extract of licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra). Glabridin is an isoflavane, a type of isoflavonoid. Glabridin is a nature skin whitening agent extracted from special licorice.
Health Benefits of Glabridin
1. Skin-whitening agent
Glabridin protects the skin by absorbing harmful UVA and UVB rays. Clinical trials have shown that it is effective in treating hyperpigmentation (including dark spots) and it can be used to reverse the damage caused by acne scars. Glabridin has the capacity to inhibit the activity of the tyrosinase enzyme by as much as 50% without damaging skin cells. Liquorice extract has anti-inflammatory properties that help to calm the skin and reduce skin irritation and redness.
2. Loss weight
Glabridin is a novel AMPK activator. AMPK is an enzyme that regulates energy at cellular level and of the whole body. Glabridin prevents fat depot and lowers lipid levels in obesity by suppressing activity of genes that support production and deposition of lipids and by activating AMPK in muscle and liver leading to breakdown of fats.
